Former Guyana Under-19 batsman Anthony D’Andrade followed up his classy 75 on Saturday with an unbeaten 58 on Sunday to help Bermine to their second win in the 2nd round of the Berbice zone of the Neal & Massy National 40-overs first division cricket competition.
The compact right-hander, who was playing cricket and attending University in Trinidad this season, continues to stake a strong claim for a late inclusion in the Berbice trials for the Inter-County One-Day competition by stroking 7 fours in his 48-ball innings to lead Bermine to an 8-wicket win against Police at the Edinburgh ground.
National middle order batsman Assad Fudadin finished unbeaten on 99 with 4 fours and 6 sixes for Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar but Guyana left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, batting at number three, responded with an attractive 93 with 3 fours and 2 sixes to give Albion a 5-wicket win at the Area H ground in Rose Hall Town.
National Under-19 player Jonathon Foo, Khemraj Sumair and Karandat Bissoondial also registered
half-centuries while Guyana Under-17 batsman Jamally Odle missed his fifty by 2 runs.
Former Berbcie left-arm spinner Anil Beharry and Mark Lionel collected 4 wicket hauls in Sunday’s action.
At Port Mourant, Delbert Hicks (35), Esuan Crandon (22) and Renrick Batson (21) supported Fudadin as RHTWSB made 224-7 off their allotted 40 overs.
Guyana’s newest West Indies ODI selectee Royston Crandon was bowled by Ranga Lachigadu for 16 as left-arm spinner Permaul (2-47) and leg-spinner Davendra Bishoo (2-48) bowled expensive spells for Albion who made 225-5 in 40 overs after needing 5 to win off the final over and 2 from the last ball.
Permaul added 41 with Test left-hander Sewnarine Chattergoon (31) for the 2nd wicket and 111 with Foo (66) for the 3rd to set up the Albion victory.
At Edinburgh, D’Andrade and Odle put together 92 for the 2nd wicket after former Guyana Under-19 Skipper Eugene La Fleur fell for 20 to lead Bermine to 155-2 in 24.2 overs replying to Police’s 154 in 32.3 overs.
Cylus Gibson made 37 and Jerry Heyliger 24 for the Cops as left-arm spinner Troy Mickle continued his good form in the competition by taking 3-26 to follow up his 4-wicket haul against Rose Hall Canje the day before. Charles Shepard supported with 2-27 for Bermine.
At Scottsburg, Scottsburg United beat Upper Corentyne by 3 wickets. Upper Corentyne winning the toss and batting first 139 in 36 overs with Chatterpaul Lionel 39, Deoprakash Ramdat 20, Mark Lionel 4 for 20 from 8 overs, medium pacer Peter Grimes 2 for 42 from 8 overs. Scottsburg United 144 for 7 in 35.4 overs with Anthony Seeraj 38, Anthony Bramble 22, medium pacer Chris Bollers 2 for 25 from 8 overs, off-spinner Bheem Singh 2 for 30 from 8 overs.
At Rose Hall in Canje, Young Warriors beat Rose Hall Community Centre by 5 wickets. Rose Hall Community Centre winning the toss and batting first, 128 all out 31.1 overs with Khemraj Sumair 50, Anil Beharry 4 for 32 from 7 overs. Left arm spinner Charran Singh 3 for 6 from 4 overs. Young Warriors 132 for 5 in 26.4 Overs with national Under-19 batsman Seon Hetmyer 44, former West Indies Under-19 batsman Richard Ramdeen 34, Riaz Kassim 28 n.o, left arm spinner Sean Ghetto 2 for 25 from 8 overs.
At Blairmont, West Berbice beat Blairmont Community Centre by 15 runs. West Berbice lost the toss and were sent in to take first strike made 162 in 38 overs with Rajbance Hemraj 45, Dennis Webster 28, medium pace Mohamed Yusuf 2 for 14 from 8 overs, off-spinner Heeralall Bridgelall 2 for 28 from 5 overs, national pacer Brendon Bess 2 for 35 from8 overs.
Blairmont Community Centre 147 in 38 overs with Karamdat Bissoondial 54, Nedesh Basdeo 36, off spinner Dennis Webster 3 for 14 from 5 overs and Krishnadat Ramoo 2 for 14 from 5.1 overs.
The Berbice Zone of the competition continues this coming week-end with the third and fourth rounds of matches.
