Ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch are seeking the public’s assistance to locate a citizen of the United States who fled the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Timehri leaving her hand luggage with cocaine behind.
Reports stated that the woman who has been identified as Ebony Singh was checking in on an early morning flight which was heading to the US on Thursday.
Sources said the woman who is of African descent only checked in her luggage with the airline but never turned up at the second scanner where narcotics agents were carrying out checks on bags.
During the checks, the ranks found a total of four and a half kilograms of cocaine concealed in the luggage bearing the woman’s name.
Using the public address systems, the woman’s named was called for her to collect her luggage but she never turned up.
Checks were immediately made at the airport and its surrounding but the woman was nowhere to be found.
Investigations are ongoing.
Also on Wednesday, Police Narcotic ranks intercepted a South African woman, Cheryl Kwitshanna, with cocaine at the CJIA.
Reports indicated that the woman was at the time an outgoing passenger to London.
After acting in a suspicious manner, the woman’s hand luggage was searched and a total of two and half Kilos of cocaine was found.
The woman has since been placed before the court and was been remanded. The matter is expected to be heard again at the Providence Magistrates’ Court.
