A post mortem conducted yesterday on 23-year old, Dweive Kant Ramdass, revealed that he died from asphyxiation due to drowning.
The post mortem was done yesterday morning at the Georgetown Hospital by Dr. Vivikinand Bridjmohan, the Government Pathologist for Regions Five and Six.
But Ramdass’ sister Simone Singh, said that they were informed that because of the decomposed state of the corpse, the pathologist was unable to pronounce on the other injuries on Ramdass’ body.
Relatives said that Ramdass had what appeared to be marks of violence to his neck, back, face and torso.
According to police sources, the Coast Guard ranks had told investigators that they dumped their victim in the Essequibo River after strangling him.
The abducted man’s remains were found at around 08:00 hrs on Saturday near Caiman Hole, an area in the Essequibo River near Fort Island.
His sister, Simone Singh, had told this newspaper that while the family is distraught, they are grateful that they were able to locate his remains, since the discovery has helped to expose corruption within the Joint Services.
She said that she hopes justice would prevail and the perpetrators hanged.
Mrs. Singh, a senior member of the Assembly of God Church, said that she was shocked to see that the killers were the same age as their victim.
Ramdass is expected to be buried today at Bartica.
