The newly constructed $348million building which now houses the Republic Bank, Essequibo branch, was officially opened with at its Anna Regina location with a simple ceremony.
Prime minister, Samuel Hinds; Managing Directors of Republic Bank [Guyana] Limited, Mr. Edwin Gooding and Mr. John G. Carpenter; Executive Director and Mr. John Alves were present at the opening.
Mr. Gooding, in his speech said that the opening of the new branch of Republic Bank Guyana Limited, is a significant milestone in a journey that started on the 1st of February 1997.
Mr. Gooding further divulged that the Republic bank is focused on creating the kind of relationships that engender unswerving loyalty, wherever they are located.
The other director, Mr. John Carpenter, in his address stated that the ‘decision to build a new branch at this site had its beginnings in the bank’s desire to upgrade and expand its service in the community, particularly since it was recognised that Republic Bank’s continued growth in business impacted its ability to comfortably accommodate its customers and staff.
According to Carpenter, the new site previously the location of the Guyana National Co-operative Bank, which was integrated into the business of Republic Bank in 2003, offered the bank the ideal opportunity to build this spacious and modern facility in close proximity to the previous location for continued customer convenience.
The director further noted that the new facility now enables the bank to raise the bar in quality of customer service that customers of Essequibo have come to know. He also noted that the bank with its courteous staff has also upgraded and expanded their ATM Service to adequately meet customers’ current needs.
Carpenter disclosed to the gathering that they are in the process of constructing another outlet at Diamond soon.
In his feature address to the gathering which comprised mainly customers and managers from various entities on the Essequibo Coast, Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds, first expressed his gratitude and praised senior officers of the Republic Bank.
He noted that since Guyana has been making strides in various aspects, likewise, the Republic Bank has been participating, contributing and has also benefited from that growth.
Prime Minister Hinds also challenged the directors of the bank to open outlets in other far flung areas such as Port Kaituma and Madhia.
