Dear Editor,
I respond to Ms. Nestor’s letter (SN 21.08.09) under the caption, “PNCR members should stay focused on the issues that matter most to the party”.
Shortly after the resignation of Mr. Murray as Chairman of the PNCR, Ms. Nestor penned a letter published (SN 19.01.09) in which she made the following glowing tributes of Mr. Murray: “I wish to publicly congratulate Mr. Winston Murray, MP for his demonstration of strong leadership, character, strength and wisdom while he served in the capacity of Chairman of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR). Undoubtedly, the invaluable contribution he brought to the office of Party Chairman will continue to stand out in the minds of members and supporters alike. His continued support for the success and development of the PNCR is unquestionable; his skills in dealing with matters both internal and external to the party are indicative of his tremendous reservoir of talent.
“Mr. Murray was not only a Chairman of the PNCR, but has continued to be a national leader, political icon, and a positive role model for our young people. I wish Mr. Winston Murray every continued success, and look forward to benefiting from his usual impressive work in Parliament and in the party.”
Is Ms. Nestor now referring to Mr. Murray as one of “the political adventurers …” because he has taken the wise and courageous decision to run for the position of Leader of the PNCR so as to save the Party from the slippery slope it has been going down under the incumbent? It should be obvious that based on the qualities possessed by Mr. Murray as outlined by Ms. Nestor that she should naturally support his candidature in keeping with her words or was she not sincere?
