Several teams would vie for top honours when the Live Wire Promotions hosts the inaugural ‘Companies Sixes Cricket Competition’ at the Guyana Softball Cricket Association (GSCA) ground, Carifesta Avenue, tomorrow morning.
A release from the organizers intimated that the primary aim of the competition is to foster unity among the participating nine companies and their families. The teams participating in the day’s activities are National Communications Network (NCN), John Fernandes, Courts Guyana Ltd, GTM, Republic Bank, Ministry of Culture Youth and sports, and the Hand in Hand group of Companies.
Several business entities have decided to sponsor the day’s programme and include Gizmos and Gadgets, DaSilva’s House of Optical and Ansa Mc Al among others. The teams would consist of 11 players per side and bowlers would not be constrained by a quota of overs. However, teams would be required to take the power play in the first two overs and during this period, only three fielders would be outside the 30 yards circle. Two runs would be given for a ‘foot fault no-ball, plus a free hit. There would also be musical entertainment, fun for children attending the occasion as well as lots of interesting gate prizes up for grabs.
Winning teams would receive lucrative prizes and there would be attractive individual prizes. While children under 12 years would be admitted free, adults would be required to contribute a minimal three hundred dollars ($300) to gain entry. The organizers have promised an unforgettable day of fun and frolic.
