An unwanted guest invaded and brought a premature end to proceedings on what should have been the final night of action in the inaugural Trix Under-17 football competition in the city on Wednesday night.
Twenty-three minutes into the third place game between Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Uprising, the Guyana Power and Light took power from the area resulting in the end of proceedings for the night. GFC were ahead on the score cards 1-0. The referees waited up until 20:00hrs, well over one hour before they decided to leave the Tucville ground.
The Georgetown Football Association took the decision to reschedule the matches for tomorrow evening at the same venue.
GFC and Uprising will meet from 17:00 hrs in the third-place game which would be followed by the championships game between Fruta Conquerors and Sunburst Camptown.
