George Yhap may never want to touch alcohol again after the bizarre experience he had yesterday.
Yhap, 39, of 238 Alexander Street, Georgetown, is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital suffering from severe burns to the interior of his mouth. The man is in the habit of taking his High Wine in the mornings, so yesterday he sent a friend to purchase some for him.
When the friend came back with the liquid, Yhap filled the cork and poured it into his mouth.
The sensation was certainly not that created by his accustomed High Wine.
In fact, so intense was the heat that Yhap spat the liquid out but by then it was too late.
His entire mouth became enflamed and appeared raw to the naked eye.
He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where doctors confirmed that instead of High Wine, Yhap was given acid to consume.
Luckily not much the liquid went down Yhap’s throat. “Is a good thing he ain’t swallow it but he whole mouth bun up,” a source at the hospital told Kaieteur News.
The entire inside of Yhap’s mouth, including his tongue, was scorched and he is experiencing difficulties speaking.
“He ain’t gun drink no more,” the source said.
