Relatives of a Montrose man are hoping for a miracle after receiving news that the father of one reportedly feel into the Atlantic Ocean.
Reports are that 28-year-old Richard Sanchara, called ‘Peter’ or ‘Pledge’, left for a fishing trip on Friday and was last seen by his other crew members on Monday evening.
According to relatives of the man’s wife Kumari Baljit, her husband left his Montrose home on Saturday evening for a fishing expedition.
The woman said on Tuesday one of the men who was on the fishing trip contacted another family member and asked them to go down to the Ruimveldt Police Station.
She added that the man kept insisting that they go down to the police station but did not want to give them a reason.
“We keep asking he why we must go down to the station and then we ask he fuh talk to Peter and then he tell we that Peter fall overboard,” the relative said.
Balgit said the man on the phone then told them that the last time they saw her husband was on Monday evening when he told them that he was going to urinate.
The other crewmembers said that maybe some time while urinating ‘Peter’ must have fallen in the ocean.
Meanwhile the matter has since been reported and when the four other crewmembers returned from sea yesterday they were taken into police custody to assist with investigations.
Up to press time yesterday the four were still assisting investigators. Sanchara’s body was not recovered.
