Dear Editor,
In the course of my daily duties I am required to traverse Thomas Road, in Thomas Lands and I was particularly pleased when I saw the renovations being done on the premises of the Transport Sports Club.
I was also impressed that this club, which during its immediate past was a venue for cricket, football and a number of indoor games, now accommodates a spanking new tennis court, as well as a basketball court; thus making it the most complete sports facility in Georgetown.
From my recollection, this project was completed about four to five months ago and I am yet to see any part of this complex being utilised except for the security in the guard hut.
My concern stems from the fact that non utilisation will only lead to another ‘White Elephant’ in the Thomas Lands landscape, as at present it certainly does not seem to be catering to the needs of the staff of the Transport & Harbours Department, who should have been benefiting from its use at this point in time.
