The search is on for Reshma Singh, who, it is alleged, stole her cousin’s baggage and proceeded to sell its contents.
Anita Kuim came back to visit her home country on her holiday. She took up accommodations at her cousins’ home, in Grove, East Bank Demerara.
After some weeks with her cousins, sisters Reshma and Shebana Singh, Kuim had gone to stay with her mother in Cummings Lodge, Georgetown, leaving behind her baggage.
An altercation between the two sisters led to one of them, Reshma, leaving the Grove house and moving in with a friend, ‘Lalita’, in the Diamond area.
As far as reports go, Singh took Kuim’s luggage containing clothing, jewellery and other items, with her after being kicked out.
Kuim had no knowledge of this, and was shocked when efforts to contact Singh led nowhere.
Reports were made at the Grove Police Station. The home of ‘Lalita’ was visited by police and Kuim, and she was told to report if Reshma Singh made any contact with her. Kaieteur News understands that Singh did contact ‘Lalita’, and informed her that she was afraid to face Kuim because she (Singh) had sold her jewellery, and was now trying to recover it all.
No one knows the whereabouts of Singh and the missing luggage.
Kuim told Kaieteur News that she only has a few weeks left in Guyana, and would like to have her cousin found.
She said that she would also like to get her clothing and jewellery back.
