Eight-year-old Scott Figueira continues to be the surprise star at the spelling bee contest organised by the Yarrowkabra Community Policing Group Youth Arm.
Scott, contesting in the senior category, (13 to 16 years) reached the finals without spelling a single word incorrectly.
When the first round of the contest began last week, Scott refused to compete in the junior (eight to eleven years) category, and easily reached the semi-finals.
The finalists in the senior category are Scott Figueira, Lashawn Nootoo and Marissa Carrington.
Nailah Williams, Richlyn Gariba and Kevin Barker are the junior finalists.
The contest ends next Sunday.
