Course facilitator, Colin France (seated centre) pose with the coaches from the various sub associations at the conclusion of the interactive session.
After one week of intense discussions coupled with practical adaptations, 12 football coaches, drawn from among the different sub associations, returned to their respective clubs much more informed of the intricacies pertaining to football when the Guyana Football Federation brought the curtains down on a one week interactive session at the Old Guyana National Service Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue, yesterday afternoon. The coaches were subsequently charged to impart what they have learnt to their respective clubs to foster an improved standard of play.
At a debriefing session moments before formally declaring the sessions closed, Technical Development Officer of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), and facilitator of the course, Lyndon France, urged the coaches to use their newly acquired knowledge to foster improvement in the upcoming League and every other aspect of football.
He believes that the course has achieved its objective as all of the participants left with a more enlightened perspective of the intricacies of the sport.
France is confident that once the coaches apply the lessons learnt in their respective clubs, the standard of play on the field would be greatly improved. “I expect to see a positive impact on the quality of play in Guyana especially in the imminent league,” France posited. “The coaches are now more equipped with a better understanding of the tactical aspects of the game and this would obviously reflect on their physical and mental deportment,” he concluded.
The interactive programme was organized by the GFF and funded by CONCACAF after executives of the latter organization voiced their concern about the current standard of football exhibited in the National League, and football in general. CONCACAF subsequently mandated that GFF officials to organise the session to bring the impending League tournament to the desired level of competence. The coaches are now mandated to take back what they had learnt to their respective clubs with an aim of fostering a more qualitative tournament. They have all committed themselves to the task at hand.
