Coaches from the various sub-associations will today wrap up one week of activities when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) brings the curtains down on an interactive session for coaches under its auspices, at the Old Guyana National Service Ground, Carifesta Avenue. The programme is facilitated by Technical Development Officer of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Lyndon France, and involves coaches from 12 clubs drawn from the various sub associations.
Clubs participating in the programme are drawn from Bartica, Essequibo, Berbice, Linden, Buxton, East Bank and Georgetown. When Kaieteur Sport arrived at the venue, the coaches were going through their paces under the tutelage of France. He explained that the course was arranged for those coaches whose clubs are gearing up for the ‘Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF’ National Football League, scheduled to get underway next month.
France further disclosed that the coaches were involved in discussions that examined various aspects of the game including physical conditioning, injury prevention and nutrition, laws of the game, hydration and performance. The coaches also discussed modern trends in football.
The National League gets underway in September, and is funded by CONCACAF and involves the top clubs from the various sub associations.
France explained that CONCACAF executives are concerned about the current standard of football exhibited in this tournament and have mandated that GFF officials conduct the current session to lift the tournament to the desired level of competence.
The coaches would subsequently take back what they had learnt to their respective clubs thus fostering a more qualitative tournament.
France disclosed he was able to touch on a wide range of issues and he was satisfied with the general performance of the participants.
