A young Guyanese man lost his life when a car crashed into him early yesterday morning on the Guapo/Fyzabad Main Road, just outside San Fernando, Trinidad.
Dead is 25-year-old Rajin Misir, called Andrew, of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara. Kaieteur News understands that the driver of the vehicle is in the custody of San Fernando Police.
Misir left for Trinidad on July 9, less than two weeks after he married 19-year-old Rajkumarie of Leonora, West Coast Demerara. She was due to travel to Trinidad this weekend to join him.
Misir went to seek work in Trinidad at the invitation of his friend, Lakeram Oudhram. Speaking with Kaieteur News via telephone yesterday, Oudhram’s wife said that they invited Misir to Trinidad because he was seeking “betterment.”
She said that around 06:00 h yesterday, no sooner she heard Misir call on her mother to open the gate than they heard a loud crashing sound. When they rushed to check, Misir was lying on the road.
According to Mrs Oudhram, an ambulance was called and Misir was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Reports out of Trinidad are that the driver of the car lost control and slammed into Misir.
According to his widow, Rajkumarie, Misir’s friends with whom he was staying in Trinidad have informed her that an autopsy would be carried out this morning, after which arrangements would be made to send his body to Guyana.
