-victim’s firearm reportedly stolen
Two motorcyclists sustained multiple injuries around 19:15 hrs yesterday after they were struck down near La Grange, West Bank Demerara.
Police said that Colin Vieira, of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) with a broken right leg, a broken hip and cracked ribs.
The pillion rider, identified as Ganesh Jairam, sustained a broken right foot.
Kaieteur News understands that Vieira was carrying a licenced firearm when the accident occurred and that the weapon has been stolen. According to reports, the men were riding in the vicinity of La Grange when they were struck down from behind. At press time, both men were still being treated in the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.
