The entire staff at the Police Finance Office has been fingerprinted as the police continue to probe the break-in at the facility.
However, investigators appear to be nowhere near establishing who was responsible for the Eve Leary break-in after nearly two weeks.
This newspaper was reliably informed that the 35 staff members at the Finance Office were told that they would be contacted, after they were all ordered to undergo fingerprinting at CID Headquarters.
There was no information on the fate of the ranks who were on duty in the heavily guarded compound at the time of the incident.
The police finance office is housed in the heart of the Eve Leary compound and is in proximity to the Tactical Services Unit.
The police in a press release had stated that on Sunday July 26, at about 10:00 hours, it was discovered that the Finance Office at Police Headquarters had been broken and entered.
The release said that the perpetrator(s) had managed to gain entry into the building and had also broken into the cashier’s cage. A padlock to a safe was cut, but no entry was gained into the safe which had other forms of security.
According to the police a subsequent check revealed that nothing was stolen from the Finance Office.
Some staff at the finance office said that they are peeved at the way the investigations are proceeding. According to the staff, investigators are placing all their focus on them instead of the ranks who were on duty at the time to guard the facility.
Investigations are ongoing.
