…almost five years have passed
Mr. Seusankar Ramlagan, of Reliance Village, Essequibo Coast, is one of seven siblings who were left with a joint family will almost five years ago after his mother, Nandranie’s death.
Ramlagan said that his mother in a will left 11,925 acres of rice land to be shared between himself and his other siblings— Bhagwanlall, Gomati, Churaman, Deonarine, Dennis and Parbattie.
According to Seusankar the problem has now intensified. He said that after his mother’s death in 2004, the family received a letter from Anna Regina requesting them to the Lands and Surveys sub office at Anna Regina. They were to uplift the will from the same office.
According to Mr. Ramlagan five years have almost passed, and still the family has not received the transport that was promised to them.
Additionally Mr. Ramlagan said that he made several attempts to prod the Anna Regina town council but, on every occasion family members were greeted with disappointment by officers at the office.
He told this newspaper that in 2006, he received a written form from one of the officers on the coast claiming that the council had identified a genuine mistake on the document and as such it was sent to Georgetown in order for the problem to be rectified.
However, over the years the difficulty in uplifting the transport has intensified. This is preventing the family members from conducting any business that would need the transport.
The businessman says he has three young children to educate.
There is no end in sight to the wait and the council seems to be in no hurry, according to Ramlagan.
