For years, 68-year old farmer, Mohabir Ramsahoi, was being hit by thieves who stole his crops without allowing them to grow to their full potential.
Now that the thieves have been neutralised, Mohabir is reaping the full benefits of his labour.
Last week, he reaped a soursop weighing 11 pounds and was quite surprised.
But two days ago, he got a shock when another of the fruit from the same tree weighed a whopping 16 pounds.
“This tree is eight years old. I bought it from the national agricultural research institute,” Ramsahoi told Kaieteur News.
“But thieves used to steal the fruit before it get big. Now we seeing how big the soursop could grow,” he added.
The farmer said that he plans to make some milk shake with a part of the fruit and share the rest with family and neighbours.
