Dear Editor,
I am totally fed up with the incompetence of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL).
This is 2009; can we please have an efficient power supply?
GPL continues to disrespect the Guyanese public in the form of frequent blackouts, billing errors or poor customer service.
Should I get into the damage to computers and other electronics? Let’s not even bother with that “power watch” nonsense.
The black outs come and go as they please. Just a few weeks ago I thought the entire country was in darkness, as a blackout stretched from the East Coast to South Ruimveldt.
Guyanese, what we have here is the attitude brought about by having monopolistic powers. Just look at GT&T, it took the coming of Digicel for them to start treating us (cell users) with some semblance of value. Do we need another power company?
Alternative sources of energy are definitely the answer.
Until we get the hydro-power up and running we have to – as my mom would say -”Knock yuh head” and invest in some panels or a windmill or something…..really can’t stand these blackouts anymore.
