– De Edward advance to quarter finals
The 2009 Spready’s Bakery Under-19 50-overs cricket competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board continued recently with De Edward Cricket Club playing in Zone A registering a win in their final preliminary round match to earn themselves the runner-up spot behind Achievers and a place in the quarter-finals.
In Zone C, former Guyana Under-15 captain, Harrinarine Chattergoon became the fourth Chattergoon sibling after Hemnarine, Sewnarine and Ramnarine to score a century in BCB organised Under-19 club cricket for Albion Community Centre.
Harrinarine blasted 126 (20 fours and 2 sixes) against Port Mourant B which together with an undefeated 61 from Sahadeo Somai helped Albion amass 316-6 in just 35 overs.
He returned with the ball (off-spin) to take 3-9 from 4-overs, engineering Port Mourant’s collapse as they were all out for 58.
Recording some creditable performances in the latest round were Dominique Rickie and Nelroy Hicks, both Rose Hall Town Pepsi players, who hit half centuries.
