BK International, NBS, Dr Gopaul sue KN, Christopher Ram

Brian Tiwarie, the Managing Director of BK International, has sued this publication along with eminent Chartered Accountant, Christopher Ram, in relation to an article published on Monday last where Ram claimed that an $800 M NBS contract was manipulated to Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr Nanda Gopaul’s friend.
Tiwarie, in the writ, said that the company is currently engaged in the contract and that the contract for the construction of the entity’s head office was awarded after a fair and transparent process.
He added that the contract was publicly announced at a sod turning ceremony at the construction site and a large sign visible to members of the public has been erected at the site identifying BK International Inc as the company undertaking the works.
He further charged that he is not a friend or share no personal relationship with Dr Gopaul and believed that unless restrained by the court this publication will continue to publish libel.
“I have suffered humiliation, injury and damage to my character,” and BK International Inc has suffered a loss of goodwill and damage to its business character as a result of the false and malicious publication, claims Tiwarie.
The writ was issued by Attorney at law Vidyanand Persaud.
Meanwhile, Dr Gopaul in his personal capacity and as Chairman of NBS has also moved to the courts seeking redress against Kaieteur News because of an article carried by this publication with comments attributed to Christopher Ram.
They are being represented by Attorneys-at Law Ashton and Pauline Chase.
The article attributed comments wherein Chartered Accountant, Christopher Ram, lashed out at Dr Gopaul, calling his remarks by him on a previous occasion a combination of unprofessionalism and misinformation.
In that document Gopaul claims that he is not a friend of Brian Tiwarie and that the contract was not manipulated to go to BK International Inc.
The article in question was titled ‘NBS $800 Million contract manipulated to Dr Gopaul’s friend—Ram’
