Desmond Rigby, 27, on Wednesday last, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to answer a charge of felonious wounding.
The 63-year-old Middle Street, McDoom resident was said to work as a pork knocker in the interior.
It is alleged that on July 25, at Mahdia Arcade, the accused wounded Marlon Williams.
The prosecutor told the court that the victim, Marlon Williams is still critical in hospital, nursing a stab wound and asked that Rigby be refused bail.
Rigby will have to return to court on August 14.
