Two fishing crews were attacked and robbed by three men on Wednesday at the Albion Foreshore, Corentyne.
According to the police, the incident occurred about 18:30hrs. Investigations revealed that Nazim Mazeed and his crew of two were approaching the Albion Koker when they were confronted by the three men who held them at gunpoint, boarded the vessel and ordered them back out to sea.
The armed men then forced Mazeed to approach another fishing vessel in which were Ramnarine Permaul and one other crew member. These two were fishing at the time. Permaul and his crew member were also held at gunpoint and robbed of a 15hp. outboard engine and fuel tank.
The perpetrators then ordered Mazeed and his two crew members into Permaul’s boat, and left them adrift. T
hey escaped with Mazeed’s 40 feet boat which contained a 40hp. outboard engine, fuel tank, seine, a quantity of fish and a cell phone.
