As part of its aim to increase popularity in the sport, a few executive members of the Guyana Darts Association (GDA) and players paid a visit recently to New Amsterdam, Berbice at the invitation of Mr. Tony Samaroo (co-ordinator) to meet with a newly-formed club in that area.
According to Secretary of the GDA Jean Singh, who was among the members that visited the County, they met and interacted with players and apprised them of the rules that govern the sport and also gave a few demonstrations on how the game is played.
The activity was conducted at the Banks DIH Sports Club.
Singh told Kaieteur Sport that the GDA also presented equipment such as flights and stems to the club in an effort to increase the pool of players that are currently engaged in the sport.
She reported that the members were extremely happy to receive the gift, adding that the response was that it will help sharpen their abilities and become more competitive.
Meanwhile, President of the Association Grantley Culbard and other members will soon embark on another such visit to assist in appointing a Steering Committee which will work to spread the game in the Ancient County.
