Amelia’s Ward United whip Flamingo 6-2

Amelia’s Ward United registered their first win of the UDFA/Stag B-League, when they whipped Flamingo 6-2 at the Bayrock Ground, on Tuesday.
The win takes Amelia’s Ward United to 5 points, joint third with Hi Stars and Vasco. Netrockers lead with 8 points, while Peacemakers have 6.
Former national Under-23 player Travis Waterton opened the scoring for Amelia’s Ward in the 19th minute.
Gavin Daw added another in the 26th, while Dwayne Charles netted in the 32nd and Marlon Simon in the 42nd, to see Amelia’s Ward to a 4-nil lead at halftime.
Flamingo, managed to pull one back in the 52nd minute through striker Julian Bowen, who scored with a powerful left-footed shot. Amelia’s Ward, however, responded in the 73rd minute through Monty Simon.
Flamingo seemed to catch a second wind in the dying stages of the game and began to launch countless attacks on their opponents.
During one of those raids a free kick was won from some 45 years out. Winger Morty Ramdehol saw the Amelia’s Ward keeper Odel Allicock off his line and went for goal.
The ball dipped just under the cross bar for a second Flamingo goal 8 minutes to full time.
Amelia’s Ward United had the final say as Kishawn Warner scored for them in the 85th minute for a 6-2 victory.
Play tomorrow brings together Hi Stars and Coomacka United from 16:00hrs at the same venue.
