Off-spinner Brentnol Woolford grabbed 4-7 from 3 overs for Achievers who defeated Bath Development Centre by 7 wickets, when play in the Spready’s Bakery Under-19, 50-over cricket competition continued in Berbice.
The win enabled Achievers to emerge clear winners of Zone A (West Berbice) having played unbeaten. As a result, Achievers have earned a place in the quarter-finals of the competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board.
Woolford’s spell helped Achievers reduce Bath from 45-6 to 48 all out in 19 overs. Asif Khan 2-6 and Raun Johnson 2-12 were the perfect support for Woolford. Achievers in reply eased to 49-3 in 6.2 overs with Raffel Estriado 15*. James Moonsammy took all 3 wickets for 10 runs.
In the battle of the giants, defending champions Rose Hall Town Pepsi led by respective 3-wicket hauls from off-spinners Mark Fernandes and Lloydel Lewis, restricted Albion Community Centre to 143 in 40 overs.
However Albion struck back and with left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai picking up 3-33 and off-spinner Hemant Rabindradat 2-14, combining to bowl out Rose Hall Town Pepsi for 118.
Scores – Albion Community Centre 143 in 40 overs; Harrinarine Chattergoon 39, Andy Mohan 28, Mark Fernandes 3-19, Lloydel Lewis 3-24. Rose Hall Town Pepsi 118 in 38.2 overs. Dominic Ricky 33, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai 3-33, Hemant Rabindradat 2-14.
Also doing well with the ball was pacer Kevis Adridge who took 4 for 12 from 5 overs to lead Rainbow Generation to a 30 run win over Bath Aditya.
Scores – Rainbow Generation 117 in 31 overs; Lakeram Chetram 2-16 and Waqar Hassan 2-25. Bath Aditya 87 off 17 overs; Waqar Hassan 21, Kevis Adridge 4-12, Clensford Halley 2-22.
