Reigning National Open champion, Imran Khan, won last weekend’s Edward Ajodha sponsored Stableford Golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf course (LGC).
Khan, who carted off the championship flight at last year’s Smirnoff Open championships, recorded 40 points, to emerge victorious from a field of 25 golfers, after the recent inclement weather had forced the postponement of the tournament the previous week.
Alfred Mentore another championship flight player secured the second position with 37 points, followed by Ayube Ally, who finished in third position with 37 points.
Colin Ming copped two prizes – Nearest to the Pin and Best Net on the front Nine.
The event was sponsored by Attorney-at-Law and Chartered Accountant Edward Ajodha, who is an ardent golf player and has been very supportive of activities at the LGC.
Officials of the Club expressed gratitude to Ajodha for his support in sponsoring the event and helping to raise funds for the upkeep of the facilities at Lusignan.
Meanwhile, the local players continue their preparation for the Suriname Open, slated for next month in the neighbouring Republic.
Already more than 12 players have indicated their interest in participating in the competition.
