Current and former nationals to be on show
Wildfire Productions, Event Manager of the Digicel’s ‘D’ Bimmer Flex Promotions T20 cricket competition, has scheduled a tournament for teams on the West Demerara to be staged on July 25, at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground.
According to President of the West Demerara Cricket Board Anand Sanasie, four teams, New Line Cavaliers, West Demerara Mavericks, McGill Super Stars and Cornelia Ida (CI) will collide for the first prize of $100,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up take home $50,000 and a trophy.
An incentive of $10,000 will be given to the Player of the Final.
In a supporting game just before the start of the actual competition, a Digicel Select XI will oppose a team from Banks DIH, starting at 10:00 hrs. Among the top local stars expected to be on show are national middle-order batsmen Gajanand Singh, who will captain New Line Cavaliers, Assad Fudadin and former national opening batsman Rabindranauth Seeram, who leads CI.
This is the second such event that Wildfire Productions will be organising on behalf of Digicel, having done one in Essequibo, where Central defeated South in the final.
According to the organisers, cell phones and top-up flex cards will be on sale at the venue.
Banks Power Stout and Ryder Hard Wine are also associated with the day’s activities.
