Four more Officer Cadets of the Guyana Defence Force’s Standard Officer Cadet course were handed over to the Police for tendering forged CXC certificates to gain entry to the course.
The forgeries were unearthed during the GDF mandatory background checks, which are done for all new entrants.
The investigations revealed the officer cadets paid sums ranging from $20,000 to $25,000 to various individuals after they indicated a desire to have the forged certificates.
The sophisticated level of the forged certificates, which could go undetected by the unsuspecting, suggests an organised venture is in operation.
Accordingly, the GDF urges organisations and agencies to scrupulously scrutinise CXC certificates and to authenticate them with the Ministry of Education.
