Harpy Eagles defeated Night Hawks by 31 runs to win the final of the Demerara Cricket Board –sponsored Female Mini League which ended yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground.
Taking first strike in the rain-affected match that saw the 50 overs affair being reduced to 25, the Eagles led by an unbeaten 60 from Prudence Williams reached 117-7.
Williams’ knock included 3 fours and 2 sixes, while Devanie Sewnarine added 14.
Heema Singh picked up 4-21 off 5 overs.
Chasing 118 for victory, Hawks were dismissed for 86 in 22.1 overs. Darlene Gale made a top-score of 25 not out laced with 3 fours, while Abenia Parker contributed 13.
Haseema Mohamed grabbed 5-22 from 5 overs.
June Thomas was named Most Valuable Player for the first two matches, while Prudence Williams gained the nod in the final game.
Meanwhile, Demerara released the names of 14 players and four standbys to prepare for the upcoming Inter-County Competition.
Those called are: Zaheeda Samdally (Captain), Abenia Parker, Jo-Ann Van Sertima, Victoria Bacchus, Heema Singh, June Thomas, Tracey Glasgow, Prudence Williams, Devanie Sewnarine, Heseema Mohamed, Latoya Smith, Anjanie Lalbachand, Darlene Gayle and Akaze Thompson.
The standbys named are: Nalini Sumintra, Latisha Toussaint, Donette Richie and Neisha Khan.
