A family of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, was plummeted into mourning after the patriarch was found dead in a drain several houses away at about 19:45hrs yesterday.
Dead is 64-year-old father of five, Diaram.
The man’s wife said she last saw him at about 17:15hrs yesterday when she was going out. Upon her return, at about 19:20hrs, she enquired of his whereabouts and was told that he went out through the back gate. Minutes later she said someone called out to the family asking if he was at home, and upon responding in the negative, was told that someone looking like him was dead in a trench five lots down.
Though the family has ruled out foul play they said he was not sick. He had shared the house with his wife for close to 40 years, and up to the time of his death, was living with his spouse and seven other relatives.
Last night as news spread of Diaram’s demise, neighbours gathered at the home and offered sympathy as his wife continually cried in disbelief. She described him as good man who was mostly nice when he was sober. (Mondale Smith)
