Chief Executive Officer of Umana Developments, Fazil Ramzan, has responded to the Sarah Johanna resident who is claiming heavy handedness. Razman said that the land he owns does not in anyway affect the squatting ribbon which is quite separate from the major project.
This ribbon would have no effect on the project whatever might be the rulings of the Court.
East Bank Demerara is the fastest developing area in Guyana. Its infrastructure of having the national airport, a major road from Georgetown to the Airport and beyond to Brazil, and of course the Demerara Harbour Bridge, has accommodated a plethora of agricultural, industrial and housing developments and even recreational facilities such as the National Stadium.
The newest and most modern housing development is being constructed by Umana Development Company at Sarah Johanna.
“The Sarah Johanna Estate is one of the most desirable sites…the land is higher than the Georgetown Coast and is not prone to flooding. It is better drained…It is within easy distance of both the airport and Georgetown,” said Razman.
The housing estate will consist of approximately 500 structures, priced within an affordable range. The most inexpensive would be $5M.
The housing estate will have social and recreational facilities such as schools, places of worship, playground, a health center and above all, will be gated so as to ensure the security of residents.
The work on the estate has been going on in an increasing crescendo.
The driving road through the estate is almost complete and lots have been demarcated. Foundations for the first houses will be laid before month-end and the first occupancy is expected in November. There will be occupancy in regular succession as the houses are completed.
Fazil Ramzan is a well-qualified engineer and a person with vast experience in Finance and Administration, both in North America and in Guyana.
Scores of Sarah Johanna residents on Saturday last complained about what they called a high handed approach to a land dispute in the locale. This dispute is already before the Courts.
On Saturday a crew of construction workers commenced clearing a path for what is said to be a roadway.
