Rivalry in the Guinness/ Georgetown Football Association/Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport/Nationals Sports Commission Inter Block Futsal competition kicked off on Saturday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with seven (7) teams recording victories.
The largest margin of victory was recorded by Sunburst Camptown who hammered Houston Stars 6-1 on the back of a Sherwin Cadogan double. Lending strength to Cadogan’s effort were Anthony Belfield, Kester Alleyne, Telson McKinnon, Reshawn Sandiford and J. Gilbert with one each.
One of the leading Futsal sides, Flamingo, humbled Buxton Back 4-0; Leon Yaw underlining his status as one of the leading Futsal players by blasting in all four goals for Flamingo.
The Guyana Defence Force took care of Soesdyke 4-1, Seon Brewley, Stellon David, Warren Gilkes and D. Johnson all tucking in one apiece for the Army.
Goals by R. Hopkinson, R. Gordon and A. Ramsay guided BV Sideline Dam to their 3-1 triumph over Riddim Squad.
Black Pearl, with efforts from J. Clarke and K. Jackson blanked North Grove 2-0. Beacon edged Plaisance 2-1 while Uprising took care of the Georgetown Football Club by a 3-1 margin. Omali Nassy netted a brace with the other coming off the boot of G. Denny.
Play in this inaugural competition will continue this evening at the same venue with 8 matches kicking off at 19:00hrs with the GDF opposing Independence Boulevard.
This match up would be followed by games between GFC vs Anns Grove Punters; Alpha United vs Flamingo; Western Tigers vs Black Pearl; Santos vs Beacons; Camptown vs Victoria Champions, Fruta Conquerors vs Northern Rangers and Pele vs BV Sideline Dam.
