A 36-year old fisherman was in a critical condition yesterday after being stabbed several times during an argument over a cell phone.
Kurt Andre, whose address was not given, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation with a gaping wound to the neck and other injuries to the upper body, which were reportedly inflicted with a broken bottle.
According to reports, Andre, who works at a Meadowbank fisheries, was at his workplace when another man accused the fisherman of stealing his mobile phone.
An argument ensued, during which the suspect allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed Andre several times.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown hospital, after ranks at the Ruimveldt Police station summoned an ambulance.
His assailant was also detained.
Up to press time Andre was still in the accident and emergency unit receiving medical attention.
