The 168 youths who recently left secondary school, have been given a fresh break in life, having been trained in a skill that would enable them to earn a livelihood.
They were drawn from Regions One and Two and from Leguan and Wakenaam Islands of Region Three.
The training lasted for six months under the National Training Project for Youth Empowerment.
Yesterday, the youths were awarded certificates at the Essequibo Technical Institute Board of Industrial Training Auditorium.
Among those present for the exercise were Members of Parliament, Mr. Parmanand Persaud, and Mr. Farouk Khan and senior officers of the Board of Industrial Training.
Delivering the Charge, Mr. Farouk Khan urged the graduates to be honest, loyal, dedicated, sincere and ambitious. There were expressions of gratitude to President Bharrat Jagdeo; Minister of Labour, Manzoor Nadir; Region Two Chairman, Ali Baksh; Director of Industrial Training, Rev.
