A Guyana Defence Force recruit is in police custody for allegedly forging his academic qualifications in a bid to be eligible for recruitment into the army.
Kaieteur News understands that the rank had presented the forged documents to army recruitment officers about three weeks ago while seeking employment.
The officials reportedly failed to detect the forgery and the youth was accepted into the army.
However, some of the officers later realised that they had been duped and turned the rank over to the police.
He is likely to be charged.
Last week, a woman appeared in court for allegedly presenting forged certificates to officials while seeking entry into the Guyana Police Force.
