At Ryan Crawford Memorial Race course
With the second segment of the horse racing season set to begin tomorrow, the Ryan Crawford Turf club and Sports facilities at Alness Corentyne is where the action will be.
The entity in collaboration with Delmur Shipping Company, Banks DIH Limited and Rhythm Stars International sounds have organised a grand day of racing.
Over 60 animals have entered, with some seven top notch races listed to be contested on the day’s programme, which has some $2 million up for the taking.
There will be incentives for the champion jockey and the runner-up, while the champion trainer and champion stable will also receive incentives.
The event will see the entry of the two year-old horses and over. So far 12 have entered for their first taste in the racing arena.
Among the thoroughbreds set to compete are Peaceful, Celebration Time, Miss Bounty, Black Shadow, Little Spike, Savian, G.T. Rush, Leroy, Monalisa, Water and Infinity.
Banks DIH Limited has taken charge of the main event on the day’s card, which is the three year-old open gallop over a distance of 1200M and a top prize of $200,000. A full house has also been assembled for this race, which is expected to see renewed rivalry between top contenders Coconut Boy and Royal Champion, with both animals having a point to prove.
Other horses such as Lady of My Dreams, Amy Jane, Top of The Line, Night Crescendo, The Lyon, Prixie Fire, Lightning Mc Queen, Tidal Wave and Fantastic Light are all expected to shine in what is expected to be a scorcher for the Banks DIH trophy.
The F and Lower event is also expected to be full of excitement with the likes of – The Message and Face D Music of the Elcock Stables set to throw down the gantlet to The Gap, Pinch The Cash, Laura Lee In Flight, Mistaken Identity and new entry Pegasus Rising, as sparks are expected to fly in the 1200M battle for the $140,000 top prize.
The other races as usual are expected to have their fair share of excitement and will see competition in the unclassified Division one ( J) and lower and the unclassified Division two and three races (K and L) with the horses set to do battle over 1200M and 1100M respectively.
The track has once again been upgraded and turfites are expected to pack the venue to witness what is expected to be an action pack day of racing. Race Time is 13:00 hrs.
Horse owners are reminded to have their horses properly registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority prior to race day and to have their animals subject to inspection by the Veterinary officials before they are allowed to race.
