Police have charged Alex Barker, called Amkabima’, with the murder of his ex-wife, Alpha Guest House owner, Roselanie Pearl Hall, whose decomposed remains were found near Yarrowkabra, off the Soesdyke/ Linden Highway last year. Barker, who police said gave several addresses, was remanded to prison after appearing before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He is scheduled to return on July 14. Barker, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued two months after his ex-wife disappeared, was detained in Bartica on Tuesday and brought to the city the following day.
Detectives then arrested Romeo Rockerfeller, who was married to Hall at the time of her death.
Rockerfeller remains in custody and indications are that he too will be charged with her murder. Rockerfeller, who also goes by several aliases, was detained by police a few weeks after Hall disappeared, when he told investigators that he was in Trinidad.
Roselanie Pearl Hall, a US citizen, disappeared on January 30, 2008, reportedly after leaving a hairdressing salon in the city.
Six weeks later, the decomposed remains of a female, subsequently identified as Hall, were found wrapped in a blue tarpaulin in the vicinity of Yarrowkabra on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
Hall had come to Guyana to run the Alpha Guest House after her father, Byron Dick, was gunned down outside his home in 2003.
