Rishaba Dushaj, 24, of 47 Da Silva Street Newtown, is presently in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
But although Dushaj’s condition is stable, the injured man cannot speak and was in severe pain when this newspaper visited him in the High Dependency Unit of the hospital yesterday.
No relatives were present at the hospital at the time when this newspaper visited. The 24-year-old Da Silva Street resident was stabbed once in the abdomen allegedly by his reputed wife Wednesday last.
After taking the injured man to the hospital, the reputed wife allegedly told hospital officials that her husband’s friend was the person who stabbed him.
The officials started to question her since she started acting very nervous. Upon further questioning she admitted to stabbing Dushaj.
According to the woman, she and her husband had an argument over a female friend who had started to live with the couple a few weeks ago. The woman said that this move angered her husband and he constantly caused a rift between the two.
The woman said that yesterday after her husband came home they started to argue and a scuffle ensued.
She said that she was armed with the knife while her husband was armed with two glass bottles. The woman said that her husband tried to get the knife away from her, and was accidentally stabbed to the abdomen.
Kaieteur News understands that charges are likely to be laid against the man’s wife.
