Partick Haynes of the Haynes Basketball Foundation (HBF) has informed Kaieteur Sport that contrary to Charwayne Walker’s letter in yesterday’s edition, Guyana did not trounce the British Virgin Islands in Puerto Rico in 2007.
“Host BVI who Guyana trounced during the preliminaries in Puerto Rico 2007…” the second paragraph of Walker’s letter stated yesterday. However, HBF has informed that BVI actually won 91-82 against Guyana.
“Guyana did not trounce BVI in the 2007 [Caribbean Basketball Confederation] Championship. BVI beat Guyana 91-82. Gordon Klaiber did not play that game due to a toe injury,” Haynes related to this newspaper yesterday.
From our investigation and records at Kaieteur Sport, HBF statistics is correct. Walker is a regular contributor to our letter pages.
