A 24-year-old Da Silva Street resident is currently hospitalized in a critical state at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was stabbed once to the abdomen by his reputed wife.
The victim is Rishaba Dushaj, of 47 Da Silva Street, Newtown, who was rushed to the hospital after the woman allegedly stabbed him around 17:00hs yesterday afternoon at the couple’s home.
After taking the injured man to the hospital, the reputed wife allegedly told hospital officials that her husband’s friend was the person who stabbed him.
The officials started to question the reputed wife since she started acting very nervous. Upon further questioning she admitted to stabbing Dushaj.
According to the woman, she and her husband had an argument over a female friend who had started to live with the couple a few weeks ago. The woman said that this move angered her husband and he constantly caused a rift between the two.
The woman said that yesterday after her husband came home they started to argue and a scuffle ensued.
She said that she was armed with the knife while her husband was armed with two glass bottles.
The woman said that her husband tried to get the knife away from her, and was accidentally stabbed to the abdomen.
Dushaj’s condition is listed as critical. He is likely to undergo surgery.
