Iwokrama defeated Massara 3-1 in a penalty shootout in the final of a tournament organised by the North Rupununi Football Association (NRFA) that concluded at the Sarama Ground, North Rupununi on Sunday last.
Junior Aranjo opened Massara’s account in the 42nd minute and was emulated by Phillip Sutherland in the 49th.
Iwokrama rebounded with a 90th minute effort off the boot of Ewart Smith and a 92nd minute goal from Ezra Iaasacs during injury time.
Either side failed to add to the score during extra time forcing the game into a penalty shootout where Iwokrama prevailed
In the women’s final Annai inflicted a 3-0 drubbing to Rupertie on the back of goals from Pauline Browne (34th), Julie Scipio (46th) and Nan Williams (67th)
Fiona Sandy earned the Most Valuable Player for the girls while Ezra Isaacs emulated her feat for the men.
