The efforts of the planning Committee for the Association of Caribbean Social Work Educators (ACSWE) over the past year to organise a very important conference have eventually come to fruition.
The Social Work Unit of the University of Guyana will host the ninth Biennial Conference of Caribbean and Social Work Educators from July 20.
The five-day activity, slated for Le Meridien Pegasus hotel, will entail rich discussions originating from academic papers, workshops, poster presentations and panel discussions.
Minister of Human Development and Social Transformation of Belize, Peter Martinez, would deliver the feature address.
The programme would also accommodate contributions from representatives from Guyana, Asia, North America, Europe and other Caribbean countries.
These facilitators will engage participants on motivating topics in the realm of youth development, skillful counseling techniques in dealing with perpetrators of domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, drugs, family and child welfare, community development, teenage pregnancy, corporal punishment, standards and research and social work education among other interesting topics.
The ACSWE wishes to encourage participation from individuals as well as organisations.
