Ansa McAl Trading Limited donated a Dell Computer and a series of books in a presentation on Wednesday at the Beterverwagting Primary School. The presentation was done in conjunction with a Trinchloro Poster Competition that was introduced to the school.
Students from the school were encouraged to submit a poster highlighting the uses of Trinchloro Bleach, from which the top six were selected and submitted by the school to Ansa Mcal for the top three. All three winners are from the Grade Six class.
Sasha Adams, 11, won the first prize, a dell laptop; Adelle Yaw, 11, won the second prize, a $50,000 cash voucher; and Kapil Dev, 11, won the third prize, a $20,000 cash voucher. The vouchers are redeemable at Austin’s Book Store and at Giftland Office Max.
Newly appointed headmistress, Rachael Tyrell, said, “We feel very privileged and the school is thankful to the Management of Ansa McAl for taking such an active role in the personal development of youths of the community.”
Both the Head and Deputy Headmistress, Venita Rodney, sees this as an incentive in the preparation of their library and computer room. The computer will be available for Office Administration as well as student needs come September.
The students all of grade six graduated today and all said that their motivation for entering the competition was to win the laptop which they saw as a medium to connect to the internet to help them with assignments when they enter high school.
Brand Co-ordinator for Ansa McAl, Padma Prashad, said that the aim of the competition was to make the children of the school aware of the importance of proper hygiene and sanitization, along with the various uses of Trinchloro Bleach in the process.
