Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty resumed duties at the Charity Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, amidst moves to clear the high weeds that have been infesting the court compound. On Monday, Magistrate Mc Gusty and several lawyers refused to enter the courtyard because of its insanitary state.
She said that both the Charity courtyard and the Anna Regina compound were in an insanitary state and attention much be shown to rectified the existing situation urgently. At the Charity court there is no water or electricity; the toilet is broken and the building is infested with wasps.
She also noted that the bridge is worn and on two occasions at Charity she was forced to abandon court.
And last Tuesday, Magistrate Mc Gusty was again forced to abandon court at Anna Regina because of a similar situation.
In an interview with this newspaper the magistrate said that upon entering the court building she was greeted with a locked door. Pigeon dung was seen in her relaxing quarters and in the court room.
On Monday and again on Tuesday, Magistrate Mc Gusty vented her frustration by announcing to her colleagues and their clients that the untidy chambers forced her to cancel court.
