A potentially breathtaking double header in the 2009 Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Cellink Premier League is set for this evening at the Tucville ground.
Tonight’s feature will see archrivals Camptown and Fruta Conquerors renewing rivalry yet again with the former enjoying the better of the exchanges to date, their latest win came in the Camptown fund raising tournament final which the home team won by the odd goal in three.
Camptown will be aiming for their third win in as many matches in the league following victories over the Guyana Defence Force and Pele. Conquerors too, will be aiming for full points to build on their recent triumph against BK International Western Tigers.
Conquerors, enjoying the home advantage this time around will hope that they can upstage the visitors who might well consider themselves at home on the Tucville turf. Leading the visitors’ quest for full points will be captain Orlando Gilgeous along with elder statesman Troy ‘Bugs’ Prescod and Sceyon Hope among others. Conquerors will look to Manasseh Primo, Delon Williams, Lester Peters and Trevon Lythcott.
Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Western Tigers will face off in tonight’s curtain raiser from 18:00hrs.
Another double header will be contested on Sunday evening, points leaders and the only unbeaten team so far, defending champions Alpha United will lock horns with second placed GDF in what is expected to be a fast paced encounter as both teams possess potent forwards and equally stout defence. Sunday’s first game pits Flamingo against Pele.
Points standing to date with all the teams playing six matches apiece; Alpha 18, GDF 15, Camptown 15, Conquerors 10, Pele 4, GFC 1, Flamingo 1. The GDF boasts a better goal average than Camptown.
