Myrtland Paul, Clive Bullen, and Randell Singh were each sent on $200 000 bail when they appeared yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to face charges of breaking and entering, and larceny.
The men were all charged jointly with breaking and entering the L&D Internet and Game Shop between June 29 and June 30, last. During the break in they allegedly stole a quantity of articles amounting to some $1.889M.
Among the items removed were five television sets, six computers, one monitor, five-computer mouse, one DVD Player, one laptop, four cordless phones, one battery charger, and other related items. The accused all pleaded not guilty.
The matter has been transferred to another court for hearing on August 5.
So far, the police have been able to recover three computers, four television sets, four Nintendo games, and one monitor reportedly from the home of Myrtland Paul.
During his bail application, Paul’s attorney told the court that since his arrest the young man has been fully cooperative with the police and would definitely attend court if he were allowed reasonable bail.
Bullen’s lawyer, on the other hand, informed the court that his client has no pending matters before the court and used this as his basis for applying for an affordable bail.
Singh’s attorney argued that the accused had no previous brushes with the law, and was given a television screen by Paul to ‘check it out’.
The attorney noted that not long after receiving the television screen, Paul called Singh to tell him that two men were coming to collect it.
According to Singh’s attorney, the men who were two plainclothes police officers arrested his client and took him into custody. He was later released on $20,000 station bail.
