– Matter adjourned for report
Embattled Registrar of the Supreme Court, Evelyn Sita Ramlal, and Major General (r’td) Norman Mc Lean yesterday made another court appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Police Prosecutor, Denise Griffith, informed the court that advice has still not had on whether the matter would remain indictable or summary.
“My worship the prosecution has still not received word, from the Director of Public Prosecution stating if the matter is to remain indictable or summary,” Griffith explained.
Attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes, one of the many lawyers representing the duo, made an application for the matters to be indictable. That application was subsequently granted by the magistrate.
Hughes further asked that the matter to be transferred to a “less busy” court.
The matter has been adjourned for July 27, for report and also on that date the magistrate would reassign the case to another court.
On the last occasion the lawyer had argued that a definite attempt had been made to keep Ramlal from duties as the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
The Registrar, along with Mc Lean, was slapped with six charges stemming from an allegation of forgery and an attempt to commit a felony.
Since Ramlal’s appearance in the magistrates’ court she has since been interdicted from duty, the decision was taken by the Judicial Service Commission pending the determination of Ramlal’s court matter, which is currently before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
