During yesterday’s sitting in the High Court yesterday the credibility of the Guyana Police Force’s ballistic expert was questioned, much to the embarrassment of the force.
During the proceedings Police Officer Eon Jackson, who was named earlier in the trial as the ballistic expert, took to the witness stand.
Jackson after giving a brief testimony was then cross examined and was asked by both the defense and Justice William Ramlal to provide evidence supporting the fact that he is a ballistic expert with the Guyana Police Force.
Jackson merely presented two certificates showing that he only attended courses relating to the study of ballistics.
He was then informed that his certificates do not show that he is a ballistic expert.
Also during the proceedings Detective Constable Sauers was further cross examined briefly.
Also Kenrick Nero’s wife, Denise Ali, was called to the witness box. She merely told the court that she positively identified her husband’s body at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary.
The matter has been put down for 9:30 hours today.
In February, 27-year-old Shultz was committed by Magistrate Oneidge Walrond-Allicock, in the Magistrates’ Court to stand trial for the murder of Kenrick Nero.
It was reported that Shultz and other women were involved in an argument, when she allegedly went to her car and took out the weapon.
She then allegedly fired shots in a wild manner, hitting Nero who died, and two other men, but missed her intended target.
Nero was said to be sitting next to a ticket booth close to the New Court Yard Restaurant and Bar when he was hit.
